September 5, 2012 marks the centennial of late experimental composer John Cage.

He was a controversial and revolutionary figure who asked both musicians and audiences to question their held assumptions about the definition of music, of sound, and of silence.

The NYC-based ARETÉ Ensemble has organized Cage Hop, a month-long celebration of Cage’s work — and Cage-inspired work — to honor the continual need to question our assumptions.

The public will have the opportunity to contribute to the compositional processes during some of the concerts!

Tickets and festival passes available online via Brown Paper Tickets.
